About Us

Our mission is to use professional principles as a guide to produce confident, well-trained cosmetologists, who will be prepared with the necessary education to enter any phase of the industry. We believe that every person has the ability to achieve any realistic goal they are willing to seek out and conquer.

In 1980, founder Ann Smith opened the doors to the Faust Institute of Cosmetology in Storm Lake, IA. Being involved in the cosmetology industry since 1965, she brought a wealth of information and experience to the new students and staff, not only as the owner of the school, but as a licensed cosmetologist, licensed instructor and an owner and manager of salons.

1990, the Spirit Lake, IA campus was opened. The Spirit Lake campus continues to thrive while educating hundreds of students to enter a professional career in the beauty industry.

In 2005, a second generation began to take over. And although Ms. Smith will continue to have an active role in the schools, her daughter, Lynnae Faust-Latham, and her son-in-law, Justin Latham have assumed ownership of the schools. With the help of the highly talented and qualified staff, they will continue to instill the high standards and values that Ann Smith first brought to the Faust Institute in 1980.
